The condition was that it could be used only if you won without clicking the Block button in any of your winning matches. Then, in Mortal Kombat III, Friendships came with a condition. You could only use High or Low kicks in the final round. At this time, it wasn’t very easy to go with the game flow. The concept took birth in 1993 in Mortal Kombat II. History And Evolution Of Friendships In MK But for now, we have a total of 5 friendships only. It was rolled out as a response to the public outrage concerning the gruesome Fatality finishing moves present in the original game.Īlert! The good news is that it is hyped that the Friendship concept will be available in a free update for all the MK11 users in the near future. The new concept has brought a new element in the world of present-day gaming, a peaceful ending among all the violence.Ī Friendship refers to a finishing move that was first seen in Mortal Kombat II. Through this freshly added concept, every character will be given access to this feature wherein s/he can halt the gameplay by being “friends.” A positive note will display on the screens and will prevent anyone from dying further. ![]() ![]() The software simulates the behavior of high-frequency components, PCBs, and multifunction subsystems. Selecting software simulation tools takes some time at Ansys, perhaps best known by RF/microwave designers for its High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) full-wave 3D EM simulation software. This helps facilitate the pursuit for the best models for a simulation. Building accurate models takes time to match simulated performance to measurements of the new component-CAD software suppliers can’t be expected to keep track of every new IC and component on the market.įortunately, CAD tools from many major suppliers are backed by companies specializing in software models compatible with individual circuit simulators and full CAD software suites. ![]() While suppliers of CAD design tools attempt to back their simulators with comprehensive model libraries, new RF/microwave components are introduced almost daily. The multiple models must work together so that the simulated performance of the combination tracks an amplitude-vs.-frequency plot of the measured performance of a VCO constructed from those same building blocks. Each of the VCO’s component parts is a separate model. When sorting through the large number of RF design tools on the market, model compatibility is essential if component models, such as filters and oscillators, will be part of a system-level simulation of a receiver using those filters and oscillators (along with many other component models).Įven at the component level, a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCOs) may consist of several transistors and a varactor diode to change the component’s frequency as a function of tuning voltage. Models created by CAD design tools often consist of device parameters, such as scattering (S) parameters, or Spice parameters, so that they can be interchanged from one software design tool to the next. It helps define the requirements for other components within the system, such as power amplifiers (PAs) and low-noise amplifiers (LNAs). The usefulness of an EM simulator that can accelerate the design of a compact antenna is extended even further when the files or models representing the antenna are compatible with a system-level CAD simulator. In addition, connectivity is an important capability between and among modern CAD software tools. However, it may lack the accuracy and resolution to simulate the EM fields generated by an antenna design meant for the smaller wavelengths at mmWave frequencies. A 3D EM simulator may enable precise visualization of the EM fields around different antenna structures within the RF/microwave frequency range. While they’re easy to operate and can speed the design of a specific component, they fall short for many simulation chores such as modeling PCBs and systems.Īnticipation of future needs also should be part of this sorting process. Some simulators are geared for only one type of component, such as antennas or filters. They can be used at component, circuit, or system level for simulations. Many CAD software programs are based on analysis of the electromagnetic (EM) fields around a conducting structure, such as a solder joint or transmission line, by solving Maxwell’s equations. Selecting a CAD software program from the many available choices requires some work to narrow the field. The latest high-frequency CAD tools support models well into the mmWave range (30 to 300 GHz), enabling simulation of a design’s performance whether at component, device, circuit, or even system level. Thus, more components and devices are needed to support mmWave applications.Ĭomputer-aided-design (CAD) software tools help create innovative designs at higher frequencies, modeling the behavior of components, devices, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and systems before expensive mistakes can be made. As electronic applications continue to consume frequency spectrum, use of millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies is becoming more common, as in advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) radars and 5G wireless communications systems. High-frequency design tools are evolving much like the computers that run them, growing in performance and versatility over time.

![]() I also fiddled with allot of other software from DxOMark, ACDSee, Silkypix. I recently moved to a basic Oly m4/3rd setup after a number of years with a Nikon system and workflow built primarily around Capture NX-2, (which like your Aperture got dropped). Give it a go and see what you think, I find after staring at the monitor for ages I go colour blind! This is fine for my normal web uploads, phones tablets etc though, general viewing.Ĭomparing the two, Lightroom seems to like to add a little more magenta to raw files, but flicking between the two you can play with the calibration settings to get it closer. I'm also working on a monitor not properly calibrated as its my laptop and I'm working abroad currently, so it's using a Windows generated sRGB ICC profile (which is used after exports are created). I like leaving these and comparing at 1:1 between Lightroom and viewer for seeing detail. Then everything else is untouched, sharpening is set at default 50, radius 1.0, detail 100 masking 0, no noise reduction. ![]() Maybe the tint could do with changing though. ![]() I shoot a lot on cloudy white balance I will add, as it seems to bring out colours a little more with my e-m5ii, which viewer reads as 6000k and Lightroom reads at 5950, with a tint of +26. So I'm still working on it, but so far I have this:Ĭamera calibration: 2012 current, Adobe standard If you could explain what settings you made in Lightroom to do this I would be grateful! Now with Lightroom you can replicate these settings so it shows a similar result when you first open up Lightroom. Olympus OM-D E-M5mkII + M.Zuiko 14-150mmII I taught myself how to deal with RAW with viewer, then I jumped on Lightroom! You get graduated adjustments, loads of colour control, and 3 ways to sharpen your images from start to end. With Lightroom, you get local adjustments including noise and sharpening. These are just my observations, and given that Oly Viewer is free with an Oly camera, there's no harm in using it. Also, if the image doesn't need much correction or recovery, I've found that sometimes exporting from Olympus Viewer as a TIFF, and then do retouching in Lightroom, after which you can fine tune your sharpening, you can sometimes draw out extra detail in images. Also, it seems to deal with low levels of noise really well if you keep the noise filter setting to a minimum. Viewer is fantastic if you don't need to recover any highlights or shadows, it can draw a great amount of detail out of Oly raw files, plus white balance for meĪt least has been bang on. ![]() The game features the traditional multiplayer modes of the series, but also includes two new options: Deniable Ops and Co-op. ![]() ![]() Speaking of multiplayer, Conviction goes that extra mile this time, and while the multiplayer options in previous games have always been interesting and unique, this time fans are in for a real treat. Still, the more powerful toys are there to play with, and will certainly spice up multiplayer. Sadly, as good as the selection of weapons is, I’m certain most players will take my route, and spend the majority of the game using a silenced pistol like the Five-Seven and the silenced MP5. Most notably, this often increases the number of targets Sam can mark using the Mark and Execute skill. Certain people, often key scripted foes, can be grabbed and ruffed up, and by banging their heads on bathroom sinks, mixing decks and even stabbing them in the shoulder with the American flag, to name but a few techniques, Sam can always get the info he needs.Īs seems to be a standard feature these days, Sam’s weapons, once found in the field, can be pimped out with laser sights, stocks, extended clips and so on, increasing their effectiveness. The new interactive interrogation is a nifty little feature, albeit not as impressive as we’ve been led to believe. Other new elements also help to freshen Sam’s adventures up. Yes, this is still a very similar game, but it really does play and feel fresh at the same time. The improvements in combat and stealth are certainly the main draw of the show here, and both succeed in evolving the franchise, keeping it fresh and current. If you’re the type who avoids black-and-white movies like the plague, this may not impress. This is a bit of a double edged sword, though, and as Sam likes to stay hidden, you’ll spend a good deal of the game in black and white. This works well, and although still a clear sign of Sam’s current camouflage state, it’s more natural, and is a good way to handle things. Instead the game renders everything in black and white when Sam is safely hidden, and then bleeds out everything to colour when he’s not. ![]() Sam can’t, initially at least (until the new sonar goggles are found), see in the dark, and there’s no light meter to show you how well Sam is hidden. Most notable is the lack of the game’s iconic goggles. Splinter Cell, even with more of a focus on combat, is still all about stealth, though, and changes have been made here too. In fact, the game is often at its best when you’re discovered, and the nail-biting game of cat and mouse that you play with the game’s above average AI is enjoyable. This time, though, this isn’t the case, and even if you’re discovered, you can regroup and carry on. Often in previous games, you’d simply reload or let your foes kill Sam, so you could start again. It’s a great feature, not least in that it finally kills off one of Splinter Cell‘s big issues: the inability to recover easily if you make a mistake. However, there’s much more scope than simply flanking here, and by combining this system with some of Sam’s gadgets, such as a remote mine, you can create some truly satisfying traps. This may sound like a cop-out, but the actual result is a very cool and valuable skill that you’ll end up saving for those tricky moments when the odds are against you.Īnd, if you play the game on the hardest level (a very good idea, as this isn’t a very long game…) you’ll really need to make use of this skill, as well as develop a real eye for tactical positioning. What we’re talking about is carefully executed headshots, silent death-from-above kills and the game’s new mark and execute system.īy killing a foe with a hand-to-hand attack you gain access to this special ability and, once earned, you can tag a number of targets and then press Y and Sam will effortlessly take out each and every one. Sam can still skulk around in the dark, and can use walls for cover, but this time it’s all about planning your attack, and taking out foes carefully while attempting to stay undetected.įoes can be grabbed and dragged away, used as human shields and silently dispatched, but this time combat is more at the forefront, even if the goal is to remain unnoticed. This time there’s a much more organic feel. Stealth is still key, of course, but gone are the rigid combat mechanics and clunky stealth elements of before. Replacing the previous game’s overly linear and scripted stealth system, which punished you unforgivably for any slip-up, resulting in a game of pure trial and error, Conviction now possesses a much more free-form and forgiving mechanic. ![]() What else do you need to know about cheques? ![]() And different car manufacturers have different methods on how to do that. The key to a good auto is that it should change gears smoothly when the driver needs it to. There are various sorts of automatic gearbox, some very good, some not so great. That depends on the automatic car you’re talking about. To do this, automatics need a lot of development and high-tech parts, so they are often more expensive to run than manual cars. Most automatic cars now also let the driver change gears themselves, either by pushing the gear stick or with switch-like paddles on the steering wheel. This makes some cars slightly more economical than manuals. As a result of this, automatics can change into the most suitable gear for the current driving conditions. To start off, you move the lever from P (Park), past R (Reverse) and N (Neutral), into D (for Drive).Ĭars with manual gearboxes usually have a maximum of six forward gears. ![]() Rather than pushing in a clutch pedal and moving a stick to change gears, as you do in a manual, automatics just have a brake and accelerator. With an automatic, the car does it for you. The biggest difference between the two is that with a manual you change the gears yourself. With that in mind, what are the major differences between manual and automatic geared cars? Manual vs automatic Now you can buy pretty much any model with a choice of automatic, manual or combined gearbox. ![]() In contrast, owners of smaller motors had to learn how to change gears themselves, these are known as manual cars. Automatic cars were pretty much exclusive for buyers of posh executive cruisers. There was a time when even if you wanted an automatic gearbox they weren’t always available. A manual car also has three pedals - the brake, the accelerator, and the clutch whereas an automatic just has two - the brake and the accelerator. Automatic cars change gears too, although they do it automatically. The main difference between an automatic car and a manual car is that the driver of a manual car presses a peddle (the clutch) while manually changing the gears, using a gear-stick. |
